13. blue lock (season 2) [📺 9/10]

i could ramble here all i want but NOTHING could ever match up with the excitement and giddy screaming i was doing the moment me and my partner finished this second season. i love them so very much and they have the honor of seeing my strange reactions LIVE (mostly consisting of very excited gurgling). everything i'm typing here, they already witnessed me talk about in geguinely i human speeds until i had to catch my breath. it's fun. i like dedicating small portions of these blog posts to them sometimes when we watch stuff. they make me so incredibly happy and i dont think i've gushed my heart out like that to anyone but them. ANYWAY!
but ohughhgh.. oh my godddd... i love blue lock SO much dude. where do i even begin. i love how each episode just ramps up in intensity!! from the first episode we've already been introduced to super high stakes and you'd THINK it couldn't get any crazier but no each match something crazy happens and you can't help but go AAAAAAHHHH while watching. it's so FUN!! and it gives me loooots n lots n lots of good chemical in the brainnnn.
spoiler paragraph. i told my partner that it SO makes sense for the entirety of blue lock to be broadcasted to big people because the stakes WERE set up like a reality show and everything had that sort of vibe..? jokingly called it squid game but it Does have a bunch of elites watching people take a huge risk to grab their dreams or give it up and walk away... if they soccer bad they die never play nationals ever.
soooo intense... i love that despite the huge cast of blue lock, the characters it focuses on don't feel like "they're just there to make isagi look good". i feel like a lot of big cast shows fall into this trap of neglecting those at the side, but nooo.. some of these side characters are genuinely so enjoyable and i cheer for them whenever they're on. i really REALLY like the chemistry between them too - especially since i initially felt like isagi would just be the type to lose himself to ego and forget everything else around him... if that makes sense?? my partner mentioned the difference between isagi and rin's ego and i realized then that RIN was what i was thinking isagi would end up like. i like that. i like that a lotttt...
oh funny thing i just remembered. when kaiser had his small cameo at the end of season 2, my partner told me to guess their name (they're also named kaiser). but i was stupid and sleepy and high off of the dopamine this anime gives me so i instinctively gasped "ITS BLUE LOCK" and we both laughed. to be fair it was cuz their hair was blue. be nice to me.
lovelyyy lovely lovely characters. spoilerrr oh but having bachira have his last awakening moment in season 1 and his awakening moment in season 2 in the u20 fight and NOT score a goal is so foul. LET HIM WAKE UP AND SHOOT THE BALL!!! GIVE HIM HIS MOMENT THAT IS MY BABY!!! oh well. at least he had fun... i felt the same with barou in the first half of the season cuz he was in the opening and we STILL haven't seen him play for shit until they brought him out and it was like GODDDDD I WAS SO EXCITED MAN I LOVE BAROU SO MUCH HES THE KING. and reo.. oh sweet chameleon man... i'm so happy that he's slowly coming into nagi's view again. their "breakup" during season one hurts me. OH AND KUNIGAMI AGHHHH KUNIGAMI GOD THE SEASON FELT SO SAD WITHOUT THE ORIGINAL TEAM Z 4 DUDE. BUT WHEN I SAW HIM I WAS SCREAMING AND GURGLING AND AGHHHH HE'S BACKKKKK. fuck!! the cast is amazing it's one of the reasons why i am soo invested. OH SHIDOUUUU SHIDOU SHIDOU SHIDOU!! ...what is wrong with him. what the absolute fuck is wrong with him. i love him so much but like in a way a scientist likes his Specimen and wishes to dissect them and prod them with sharp instruments. i am captivated by his cat eyes too and his "devil wing" visuals. freak.
i love everything about this series so far and as much as i WANT to pick up the manga i wanna build hype for whatever comes next. there's probably a lot of stuff i haven't mentioned here.. i LOVE the "final matchup" animation. i LOVEEEEE the music. i LOVE the visual effects they would do sometimes like i know people like to joke "wtf it's just soccer" but they don't understand. they just Don't understand. "losing is like dying" as someone from Blue Lock would say... but in all seriousness, the passion in these characters is absolutely contagious and that's part of why i find myself cheering and yelling and crying loudly (when things do not go as planned). i don't think there is ever a dull moment. it feels like..... well, it feels like you are actually watching your favorite sports team but it's WAY cooler in blue lock okay. trust me on this.
i am going to feel sad and empty for a good while now that i have to wait for what's next. i am trying to fill that void by looking at merch... perhaps i will buy a few pin badges... ohohoho... my itabag is arriving soon and blue lock is like a very loud fixation right now. i can't wait for it to come back i KNOW it's gonna be sooo crazy.. aghhhhh.. blue lockkkkkk....... a blog post doesn't do what i feel justice because i was genuinely SO happy and giddy last night. i'm so happy my partner wanted to share this with me..<3
